SMS Tutorial

Greets Guys,
There’s a few who have used SMS before, but quite a few haven’t as well. So, I’m going to do a quickie tutorial here to cover a few of the basic things. Everything listed will require you to be logged in unless noted otherwise.
Logging:
Here, this’ self explanatory, but you will have 2 options
Write a mission post <<plot log>>
Write a joint mission post
Write a personal log
Now, all three are pretty up front, however when doing a joint mission post, after you select the number of people and the right people then enter your part to the log, click save.
What this will do is save it for everyone and will allow everyone to keep adding. Do not hit refresh while in this section or you’ll reset the log. Once everyones done, add your signatures and hit post.
Post a news item:
Here you’ll have a screen with your name as the author the under that a drop down menu with these options
General News – General Sim news – birthdays etc.
Sim Announcements – for changes to the sim, additions, new crew etc.
Web Site Updates – Mostly for command and Dustin
Out of Character – this’ where your Excusals and such will be sent from, same rules as the OOC list
Account:
This’ pretty up front, you can change your e-mail and password here.
Biography:
This’ where you update your bio. Now, in regards to your bio’s. It is going to be required that they are filled in both on the website and in your DB. It’s very important because it tells who your characters are, why they’re how they are and fleshes them out more by giving details that wouldn’t necessarily come up during sim or in logs. This’ so important, to me, that I’m going to start with holding awards and promos for people who have empty bios. So please go check and make sure you have yours filled in. I’ll give a 2 week grace period on this, but after that I’ll be checking :)
Request a Status Change:
This is where you’ll select and request your LOA/ELOA’s. It’s pretty easy, just tell why and how long then click post.
Award Nominations:
This allows you to send in award nominations if you see a crewmember who you think really deserves one. Just select the crewmember then the award and tell the reason why you think they should get it, click post and your done.
That’s all there is to it guys. If you have any questions just ask or e-mail. On another note, if you haven’t registered on the site already, you have until tomorrow at noon CST, 1 pm EST, to do so or you’ll be considered inactive and removed. You’ll be allowed to reapply, but your post might be gone then.
I know this seems over the top harsh, but I’m trying to get everything completely pulled together and this’ the easiest way to go about it.
