Personal History Delenna Pierce was born on a Borg ravaged Earth. Reclamation efforts remained ongoing of course, but it takes time to recover from almost total annihilation. Good thing the Federation turned them back just in time, or there would have been nothing left to reclaim. Young Delenna and her younger sister Mariel grew up observing and assisting their parents, both doctors, her mother an MD, her father a Counselor, helping to rebuild the people and the area surrounding their home. That is, when Delenna wasn\'t a patient herself, plagued with many serious food allergies that still have all her doctors stumped. Determined to heal herself and inspired by her parents\' example, Delenna felt compelled to become a doctor.

An excellent student, Delenna \"pierced\" through her studies, leaving an assortment of disarrayed teachers in her wake when she graduated at the tender age of 16. Medical school proved only a slightly higher challenge, as she\'d been gaining practical experience mentored by her parents for years. Becoming a Doctor was an all-consuming passion, and following her internship at the Walker Memorial Veteran\'s Hospital in Virginia where both of her parents were affiliated, at age 23, she achieved her goal.

Second only to her passion for becoming a doctor was her need to become a part of the Confederation to prevent the Borg, and enemies like them, from annihilating or conquering UCIP allied planets. A majestic mountain that stood behind her home before the Borg arrived was reduced to a smoldering black crater during the attack. It had happened years ago, but to a young, impressionable child, it might as well have been yesterday. To soothe his frightened, sickly little girl, her father read to her historical accounts of how the Enterprise-D, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, turned the Borg away from Earth. A career Confederation officer was born. She became relentless in her pursuit to be posted to the Enterprise. She offered her application to the Academy the very day she completed her internship, despite her parents\' warnings about how unsafe the Academy in San Francisco had become. Delenna was undeterred.

Not only did she want to enroll in the Academy, but relations between she and her mother had become very ...strained. It was definitely time to put some distance between them, and she figured a few thousand light years just might be enough. Upon graduating from the Academy at the top of her class, she couldn\'t have been more thrilled to not only be posted to the Enterprise straight out of the Academy, but she\'d been made CHIEF Medical Officer!

Delenna still loves to read those historical accounts that her father read to her as a child, and they inspire her even today. Driven to succeed and practice the finest medicine, she works ceaselessly and selflessly for the benefit of her patients, even to the exclusion of her own health. She also maintains a library of medical research on a variety of topics, most of which concern her own condition and solving the puzzle of her allergies before they kill her.
