He wears his Starfleet uniform with pride, and his eyes are always shining in fascination over something. He has a sad look about him if you watch for long enough. People tend to realize that he is somehow different just by seeing him enter the room, and it is something he is self-conscious of. His Vulcan DNA is dominant, and he has pointed ears and slanted eyebrows like his mother. He has more rounded features like his father, and unusual coloring. His skin is more pale than a Vulcan's, and his eyes are a strange blue color.

He grew up as a child of two very distinct worlds, and that mark has been with him since he can remember. His features are usually placid, though sometimes faint emotions can be detected when they are particularly strong or if they come to him as a surprise. Za'ire has a deep passion for all things, a trait he tends to hide though it is noticeable when he gets involved in his work. Personal History Za'ire grew up in Vulcan's capital city, with his parents - Starfleet medic and a Deltan Ambassador. Za'ire's childhood was traditional, and he was taught logic and emotive control just as all other Vulcan children were.

Despite this, he has always been the subject of some minor scorn. As a child, Za'ire was different - strange, bizarre. Though no one would outright tell him such a thing, and though he was not mistreated because of it, Za'ire felt the stigma attached to him wherever he went. When he was fifteen years old, this culminated. He stole a medical kit from his mother's things and injected himself with hormonal stabilizers, causing a severe reaction with his system and forcing him to undergo hospitalization. When his father figured out what had happened, Za'ire was pulled out of his regular schooling and taught at his home instead.

Za'ire had always held a vast fascination for other cultures, and his mother's career had made him desire to go to space since he was small. His parents were supportive of him throughout his youth and his father fully supported his decision to join Starfleet when he turned eighteen. Za'ire studied in anticipation, taking the required course curriculum in order to be admitted to Starfleet science track. Though his scores were good, Za'ire was required to take additional testing in order to qualify as a science specialist.

When Za'ire was eighteen, he officially joined Starfleet. Four years later, he graduated with specialty honors in xenolinguistics and xenoanthropology. His time at Starfleet Academy was difficult. The stigma didn't disappear, but merely changed. He was often propositioned, something that completely devastated his self-confidence in a negative manner. He began to become used to it, and shut himself off from most forms of contact other than the required between a teacher and student.

Za'ire finally become overwhelmed and confided in the teacher of his favorite course, who helped him to understand that his DNA did not make him who he was. It was the solidifying thing in his interest in the course, archaeology, and he graduated with two additional notations of honor for the completion of four archaeological field study semesters. Za'ire also applied for and completed a medical xenobiology training program, and is currently undergoing a provisional counseling training program while stationed on the Enterprise.

The USS Enterprise is his first posting, and aside from the trip from Vulcan to Starfleet Academy, it is his first true voyage into space.
