| Personal History | Marcus Roberts and his twin sister Marcelle were born to Vice Admiral Jason Roberts and Commander Carrie Roberts on board the USS Enterprise G. His father was the ships CO and his mother was an Assistant Medical Officer when the two met. They hit it off almost right away and were married soon after. It was a few years later they had their twins, while on a diplomatic mission to Phomme III. The twins came into life during a terrorist attack by those Louphomme who did not want to join the Federation. This was just a view of how they would grow up. Enterprise was always assigned to the edge of known space and eventually the Delta Quadrant, so things were always anything but calm. Marcus and his sister were exposed to everything from diplomatic functions to raids on the ship to ghosts and interdimentional beings. Through it all, their parents were always there for them and both learned to not only respect Starfleet but other cultures as well. Jason worked a lot and often brought Nicky, Jasons adopted son, Marcus and/or Marcelle to work with him. This helped Marcus to decide what he wanted to do from an early age, grow up and serve in Starfleet like his parents. This' a goal he worked towards, even after his parents separated. Eventually he made it to the Academy and thought his dreams would come true, but things quickly started changing for him. Even though his father never attempted to interfere with Marcus in Starfleet, the Roberts family cast very long shadows. His grandfather, Uncle, Father and Mother had all been involved in the 2nd Dominion War. His Father and Uncle were both First Force, his Father having been First Forces head since the beginning, and his Father had coordinated an all out final attack across all four Quadrants to bring an end to the war and was even on the Enterprise bridge leading it into battle. Marcus' instructors and some of the Academy staff tried to push him to "carry on the family business" and become a Marine pilot like his father and uncle had been or become First Force. Marcus hated it, he wanted to run on his own merits and decide for himself what he wanted to do. He had honestly considered both options, but once the pushing started, and even hazing about him always living in his daddy's shadow, he settled on security. It was still following in his families footsteps, as all had been chiefs of security as well, but it was a place that he felt he could build his own reputation. He did well, graduating at the top 1% of his class. On his graduation, he was afraid to face Jason, but what he remembered from childhood still rang true and Jason was proud of his sons achievements. [Marcus Raymond Roberts] Happy to have both his parents and his siblings support and approval, Marcus set off to find his new assignment. This was when he found out that due to grades and his willingness to learn RRT and Hazard Team operations as well as other side courses, he would not be graduating as an Ensign but a Lieutenant junior grade and be assigned to the USS Archer as their Acting Chief of Security. Ecstatic, he set off for his first assignment. |
