| General Overview | John is more laid back then he used to be, being less quick to anger. He strives to excel at anything he does and is a by the book officer most of the time. He also has a stubborn streak where if he thinks he's right he'll stand by what he says until he's absolutely proven wrong. | |

| Personal History |  John Carter was born on Stardate 248009.03 on the planet of Betazed. He was born into the Thirteenth House of Betazed, the house of Peace and Protection. Through out his childhood, John was taught that it was his duty to serve by his parents, both of whom were served in the Betazed Defense Force during the first Dominion War then in Starfleet. The Thirteenth House is one that is expected to protect the planet and the Betazoid way of life. They contribute any men or women who are of age to serve and one of the most important traditions of this house is having children. This tradition was started so that there would always be a pool of people to help keep the military and defense forces strong when the parents were killed or retired. This is a tradition that John, and his younger sister Charzon, both do not believe in, to the dismay of their mother. John does, however, believe in protecting his people and family, and this tradition is what led him to Starfleet at the age of 17. He entered the academy as a Security recruit and took a minor in Engineering studies. This led to his sister, a fledgling smuggler, disowned him because she saw Starfleet as the people making her have to run and the ones taking her friends away. Despite the family problems, he excelled at both and by the time he was finished at the Academy he had risen to the top 2% of his graduating class. This earned him a post on the Sovereign class USS Youngblood as an Assistant Security Officer. He was in awe there and put himself entirely into the position. The Chief of Security took a shine to him because of this and assigned him to more leadership roles. This lead him to take an open security chief post on the USS Anderson, an Excalibur X class ship. He was put to work almost the second he arrived when the ship encountered a new life form that impregnated one of the crew. He had to go into a heavily damaged section and drag her to safety and sickbay. From there, he was ordered to secure the crew while the officer had her baby, and the Anderson was abruptly recalled and decommissioned. John was never given a reason why, but he was offered a chance at a change in venue, a seat at the Starfleet Aerospace Academy. Fighters were being made more active and they had started recruiting officers with certain skill sets to fill seats. Carter, with his engineering minor and Tactical courses he took for security training is what had him noticed. He trained for a year and earned the callsign Psycho, short for Please Shut Your Chow HOle, because he had a habit of talking during ground school classes. He then was assigned to the Akira class USS Crazy Horse as a Flight Leader. Here, he learned just how much he loved to fly, during engagements with the Krivaldi. It was also here he learned about bureaucracy and how having high ranking officers as friends could help ones careers. He had been up for the Wing Commander spot, told by the Crazy Horse CO he was being evaluated, just to have it given to another officer from off ship with in hours of the meeting.  This angered him to the point he applied for a branch transfer to the Marine Corps and off of the Crazy Horse. After his training in boot camp he was sent to the USS Drake to take up the position of Marine Executive Officer where he'd also double as squadron commander. Here, he met his Marine Commander and found that he'd started having feelings for her when they'd had to work closely together. This, unfortunately, led to him learning more about how senior officers abuse their power when the ship CO decided he had interest and confined the MCO to quarters with no visitors except the ship CO. From there, he brought her dinner and courted her, making sure she was going to stay with him, before releasing her from quarters.Furious but not knowing what to do, John went on about his duties and tried his best to push it to the back of his mind. This lead to his behavioral problems and caused him to retract from nearly everyone until his MCO was captured while securing an outpost from hostile Kazon. John and a team went in to rescue her and while she was correcting him, saying they shouldn't have, he spotted a Kazon taking aim. Not having time to do much, he spun her around and took a blast to his back, injuring his heart beyond repair. He was brought back to the Drake and had a prosthetic heart put in. After recovering, he was promoted to Major for his actions, but ended up telling the ship CO where he could put the rank and resigned from Starfleet. After sitting in self pitty for a few weeks, he decided to try and get into smuggling like his sister. This proved to be disastrous because his heart was still with Starfleet, and he couldn't bring himself to break the code and regulations he'd sworn himself to. So, he reapplied to Starfleet and ended up on Eden Fleet Yards as the security chief at a rank reduction of 2 ranks, to 1st Lieutenant, due to how he'd resigned from the Drake. While here, things started to turn around a little because the Yard CO ignored his history and gave him the benefit of a doubt. It was here he met the Zetari Chief Medical Officer after that crew had been displaced when they lost their station. He spent allot of time with her over the near year the crew was on Eden waiting for their new station to be built. He had thought there was something between them and found out there wasn't when she'd gone with the Zetari AMO to pick up some Marines. He knew nothing had happened, but also took the action as her telling him to go away and opening an old wound. So, wallowing in self pitty once more, he went drinking and got into a barfight where he left four other Marines in sickbay. Charges weren't filed, but he was told if it happened anymore he'd be gone. Thankful for the Yard commanders leniency John let it go and did do his best to straighten out. It was not long after that he was approached by a stand in CO, who had taken over while the regular CO was on LOA, and told the Yard CO had fought for him and gotten his rank of Major back. Carter was taken aback by that and promised to thank the Yard CO once he returned. After that, he decided to return to Starfleet Academy to get his Masters in Engineering Sciences. This took him another year, but he graduated at the top of his class causing R&D to pulling him for a special assignment. They were planning to set up a field office on Eden and the wanted John to head it. He accepted happily and returned to Eden where his first project was the Typhon class Starship. He designed and built two of that class, the USS Typhon and the USS Agamemnon, as support ships for Eden. Impressed, the Eden CO, Commander Levison offered him a second job, heading the engineering and construction department of the station. John accepted happily, willing to do nearly anything for the CO who'd given him a fresh start. Things had been great until the Yards Marines were deployed to Maylor. While John hadn't been part of the Marine contingent, he'd still been the engineering head and had to find out through his officers that while preparing for the mission, the MCO had plucked away his engineering officers without a word. John, again, was furious over the move, as were all the other department heads on the station, and decided to try and go through proper channels. He was ordered to drop it, and out of respect for the Yard CO, he did. That is until he was prepping the USS Neverwinter for launch for the Marines and John had to face Sharpe, the MCO. The two got into an argument in main engineering and parted less then amicably. This led to issues down the line when John applied for and was accepted to Force Recon school. He'd given up his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel to apply for the 2 year training, but through it all, Sharpes reports were read to him and the DI's tried convincing him he needed to leave Starfleet. With renewed determination, John worked his way through the Recon training and graduated then ended up assigned to the Enterprise Task Group as the Force Recon Platoon Leader in the 1st MEU. Before he could do to much there, though, he was pulled by the Task Group commander to be the Task Group Chief of Staff, which was a fancy title for Yeoman.  It was while here he met Sabrina Corbin, the Enterprise Deck Chief. He was immediately taken with her and moved to strike up a conversation with her. This lead to them actually dating, and John swallowing his fear of dating, and them getting engaged. The engagement party didn't last long as Enterprise was sent to answer a distress call. With the security chief off ship, Carter was asked to stand in as security head and joined an away mission to try to save a station. The team started searching only to find everyone on the station turned into zombies. The team fought them off and returned to the ship with one infected. After multiple exams and a confrontation over feeling singled out by the CMO John was cleared. He later patched things up with the CMO and ended up planning the mans rescue, though it wasn't needed. After the mission, the Task Group was assigned to attack a string of Dominion bases as part of a larger attack plan. John and Sabrina relaxed, talking about their wedding, and John asked her to marry him right then, before they went into battle. She agreed and they were married 240811.08 with their family able to attend through hooking the holodeck into the comm system. John, in keeping with Betazoid tradition, took Sabrinas last name after the ceremony. But, there wasn't time to celebrate as the Task Group went into battle. With Roberts on the bridge, John Corbin had to relay orders to the Task Group and coordinate all operations. After the battle, John and Sabrina were given a 2 week honeymoon on a nearby planet, though this only lasted 4 days. The couple was recalled due to charges of murder and dereliction against four Task Group CO's being filed, and counter charges of the same being filed on Roberts and Corbin. The premise of the counter charges were the orders were not relayed correctly. Both Roberts and John were cleared after one of the CO's was found to be under the influence of the Dominion and tried to shoot Roberts in the hearing room. Not long after, John was called to meet with Roberts who told him the previous days call from Fleet Command promoting John to full Colonel was in preparation for Johns promotion to commander of Enterprise. John happily accepted and, after speaking with the exec to make sure everything would be ok, was made the Commanding Officer of Enterprise on Stardate 240812.16. His first mission started off well enough, but took a hard left turn when an away team he'd sent to help with a medical emergency became trapped on the planet they were trying to help. During this, he also had Rear Admiral Jason Roberts trying to micromanage him. After getting Roberts set strait, he received reports from his squadron and science people that a ship was helping to cause the storms on the surface. They captured the ship while the away team set things right on the planet. With that mission out of the way, he took the ship to pick up a wayward Admiral Roberts then headed for an uninhabited planet to set up a starter base for Federation settlers. It seemed like an easy mission, and he along with the crew relaxed a bit and used the time as a working vacation. Not long after arriving, John and Sabrina decided they wanted to have a child. Withing a few days of this decision, Sarbrina found out she was pregnant and John was on cloud nine. Unfortunately, that happiness was short lived when Roberts decided to stage a coupe and strand John with his senior and the loyal officers on the planet they'd named Gensis. The man they'd retrieved had turned out to be Roberts' mirror double. the Mirror Roberts had kidnapped then brainwashed Sabrina while John and the rest survived until the USS Cortana arrived. This was where things went even worse, Johns heart was already weak from being shot on the Enterprise when he received a recording of Jason and Sabrina together. His heart failed and he was rushed into surgery to have a replacement heart, his second, put in. On recovery, things went worse when he ended up walking out on the crew. there had been a series of plans to retake Enterprise, and the Cortana CO ended up, mistakenly, overriding all orders John had given. With the mirror already pushing John over the edge, he snapped and gave up, deciding to make his goal rescuing his wife. He was talked into just taking an LOA until he was able to bleed the stress away. John agreed and joined in the attack on Enterprise, getting it back and rescuing his wife. He found Sabrina in sickbay and stayed with her. They had to overcome the brainwashing and the twistedness mirror Roberts left her with. They did, using an R&R for a month on the planet Qanar to reconnect. After the R&R, He met the TAD Replacement for Roberts, Vice Admiral Valor. She made him take a branch transfer to Starfleet Naval, stating that it would set him apart from his crew less. He didn't like it, but accepted it and, after spending a last free day and night with Sabrina, set to work getting ready to help an insedctoid race known as the Prix to recover lost ships. Corbin was killed in action not long after while on a mission on peace. Rogue elements from the world they were negotiating with took over the ship. To get his crew help and protect them he gave his life, executed by the Denworlder Admiral over crimes against the Admirals son, letting it happen the only way to get the crew what they needed. |
