Mission: First Force/Task Force Command - Inspection Tour
Location: =/\= Dream Plains =/\=

Jason sat in his cell while waiting for the interrogations to go on. He was tired, having been up for nearly two days. He put his hand to the medallion under his shirt. His eyes slowly closed and in an instant he was back on Enterprise. It was calm though, the room only dimly lit, "hello?" he called and ventured forward carefully, his mind stuck on what he was seeing and his body filled with concern for both crew and for the one who'd taken his heart, brought him back from the despair he had been trapped in.

War torn and tired, Melissa was there to watch the Admiral make his hesitant way down the hall. Her healing was still a work in progress and yet still she stood defiant to the pain that radiated through her ribs and chest with each breath she drew. "Hello to you." She spoke with a simple smile that seemed almost evanescent. Corbin had fallen. She'd failed to save him but her distraction had given the Enterprise the chance it had needed to succeed... And now this... Kazons that threatened to over come them all but like a phoenix the blustery red head had risen from the ashes with remarkable grace. By all rights the girl should be dead. "You did something..." Her fleeting smile faded and was replaced with narrowed eyes. "Why trade yourself for something so insignificant?"

Jason turned and returned her smile as he hurried over, "hey," he replied then stopped just as he got to her, "it isn't insignificant," he replied softly and reached out, putting his palm on her cheek, "I had to in order to come back to you, if I hadn't let myself be taken they'd have killed me," he added and rubbed her cheek with his thumb as the scene switched to a park with green trees, fresh grass and a light breeze.

The wind grabbed and played with the loose ends of her hair as she stood quiet beneath his touches simply allowing her head to rest against the palm that lay cradling her cheek. "But what guarantees are there Jason?" Missy asked and wrapped her fingers around his wrist yet stopped short of removing his hand from her skin. In truth she needed his touch. Craved it. "You have a promise to keep a destiny to meet. You know this though, right?" She asked and the blue of her eyes flashed up to meet his.

"My promise and destiny is to be with you, no matter what it takes," he said softly in reply, his eyes locking with hers, "I love you and I promised I would come back to you," he added and leaned in, kissing her lovingly slow, needingly.

Returning the kiss Missy debated her next words, trying in earnest to convey what needed to be said as quickly yet gently as possible. "I love you too Jason... But your destiny is far greater and goes far beyond that. You need to realize your true place among the stars. You do."

Roberts felt his chest tighten and he watched Melissa for a minute, not sure how to respond. Finally, he took a breath, "my destiny isn't written, and I don't believe that we found each other just to each be alone again," he replied and met her gaze, "Melissa, I would give up everything, go to the farthest reaches of hell for you," he added, knowing it sounded cliche, but his eyes held the truth he felt behind the words.

"It is written. All of our paths are written and it's your time to shine." She smiled and rested her hands on his chest. "We're not meant to be apart. You misinterpret my message." Missy's right hand reached to smooth the cool pads of her fingers tips across the chiseled line of the man's jaw.

Jason let go of a held breath and closed his eyes, savoring her touch. And then he nodded in understanding, "I understand, and I will meet it head on," he replied softly as he opened his eyes. He felt a tingle followed by a warmth, emanating from the center of his chest to fill his body slowly. Her voice and just the very warmth the woman who had turned him inside out was emanating had drawn him to her that much more. All pain seemed to leave him, all fatigue, and left him feeling renewed, ready to take on the universe, the way only the love of another could manage.

Nodding, Missy took a step back away from him. "Good. Then I expect you home shortly... I won't tolerate any other outcome." There would be no sorrowful goodbyes, no long drawn out tender love scenes. Just a smile and the fleeting feeling of lips brushing against lips. "I love you." the wind caught her last sentence and much like the Cheshire cat's tricks had been described, Melissa was gone as if she'd evaporated into thin air leaving Jason physically alone and pressed to continue down the path of thorns laid out for him. But in doing so Missy had left him with one key element that would tip the scales in his favor. She'd left him love and with love she'd left him hope.
