The AC-307 Pegasus went into development in mid April 2402 and is a small yet highly maneauverable space superiority fighter designed for short-medium range combat opperations in both an offensive and defensive role depending on the situation.

Her weapons system focuses on primary weapons more than secondary which does not suit some of the younger pilots who enjoy quick kills but makes her well suited to large scale engagements where force of numbers compensates for lack of weaponary. The vessels high speed and maneauverability both at sublight and FTL velocities complements this role.

Another advantage to using this fighter is the above average sensor suite which is common on fighters of this size. The purpose for these sensors was to allow her to perform reconnisance missions like the Shadow class but the Pegasus' low capacity Isolinear computer core often has difficulty processing the wealth of data its sensors provide which makes the computer core prone to crashes when all its sensors are online. Current SAC advise to pilots is too keep the scientific sensors offline unless absoluetly necessary but problems are still reasonably common.

However, despite these problems, the Pegasus is still an effective fighter in the roles it was designed for and will probably remain in active service for some time to come.
